We are a family-run business that has been involved in the landscape gardening industry for over 50 years, myself (Gareth Martin) for the past 27 years. We specialise in all areas of residential, commercial and industrial grounds maintenance. We pride ourselves on providing professional, high quality services to clients covering all areas throughout the North East and North West of England, (County Durham, Cleveland, Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Cumbria).

Our clients include; Durham County Council, Durham and Darlington NHS Trust, Northern Trust (Whittle Jones), Workman LLP (Hansteen UK), Go Ahead Group, Johnson Tucker, KP Snacks, Northumberland estates and Kingston property services.

Sites include private housing estates / county house estates, hospitals, caravan parks, retail parks, business parks and industrial estates, to name but a few.

Our equipment

We own a range of specialist equipment to assist us, which includes a road sweeper, wood chipper, stump grinder, mini digger and a powered access platform.

The platform is also available for hire with operator to provide safe access for your company to carry out roof surveys / repairs, gutter repairs, lighting repairs, high level cleaning, arboriculture work etc.

All plant and equipment is up to date, well maintained and complies with all health and safety regulations.

Our qualifications

All employees are trained and qualified within their area of work; all chainsaw operators have received training to NPTC (cs30, 31) climbers (cs38, 39, 41) as a minimum. MEWP operators hold an IPAF license and pesticides are only used by workers fully certified to NPTC PA1 / PA6 for competence in the safe use of pesticides.

Health and Safety

As proprietor of Martin landscapes I am very aware of my responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and strive to maintain a healthy and safe working environment for myself, employees, customers and anyone else who may be affected by company operations.

Risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work are carried out for work activities. Louise (my partner) holds the NEBOSH level 3 certificate in health and safety with distinction, so you can be confident we can meet safe contractor requirements.

We have in place employers, public liability insurance and are safe contractor approved. The safe contractor scheme is designed to review and audit our health and safety policies, procedures and documentation to ensure we demonstrate compliance with current health and safety legislation.

We are fully licensed by the Environment Agency under the Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act 1989 for the transporting of controlled waste.
